About Us

 

Beyond Building it is all about helping small business owners employ the latest Internet marketing techniques--but scaled to their situation.

 

This means:

  1. We always work with a firm understanding of the current situation. What is your budget? What are your goals? Who is your competition?
  2. We believe technology is only a tool and should only be used when it can help you reach your business goals.
  3. We know that many Internet marketing techniques are appropriate for a large business with a dedicated marketing staff. Our job is to find those tools that can be scaled down to be practical for your business--and provide the results you need.

 

So Who is Janet Wentworth?

 

Business and Technology Advisor for the Small Business Development Center

I am a Business Advisor with the Santa Rosa Small Business Development Center at the Santa Rosa Junior College and also an advisor with the Northern California SBDC Technology Assistance Program (SBDCTAP). I work with clients in many industries and sizes to help them develop effective marketing strategies and especially to use the Internet as a tool to increase their profits. I also teach their "So, You Want to Start a Business" workshops and am a certified NxLeveL® for Entrepreneurs instructor.

 

Passion for Guerrilla Marketing

Guerrilla marketing is a great way for small business owners to bring more creativity to their marketing, rather than just moaning their lack of budget. As a Certified Guerrilla Marketing Coach, I work with clients to walk them through the process while they develop their guerrilla marketing mind set.

 

Strong Business Background

My background includes working as a corporate and cost accountant, a product marketing manager for a global software developer and as the owner of a full service marketing business. My years with Computer Associates is where I began on the path of web developer (back when the Internet was a pup). This wide ranging background means I offer solutions that are business oriented, not just technical whiz bang. It is so tempting to get caught up in the latest Internet fad and lose site of the bottom line--your bottom line!

Creative Product Design and Direction

Continuing education (both formal and self-directed) is a passion for me (good thing, as in this industry you are dead if you don't keep up!) and have recently earned a certificate in Integrated Online Strategies from the University of San Francisco. I was a board member of the Sonoma County Web Developers. After all, you can't live your whole life in a virtual world--meeting people face to face is still important!

In my role with the SBDC, and in partnership with the Town of Windsor, I offer bi-monthly Windsor Biz Talk sessions, where we discuss all things of interest to the small business owner.
